Avengers

Joss Whedon has done the unthinkable... he successfully brought the worlds best superheroes together!
The whole film is based on the return of Loki who not only has a plan but has a super army consisting of the powerful alien race known as the Chitauri, for years he has trained and planned his way into earth with the help of his new weapon which contains 1 of the infinity gems; the blue one allows him to control people because its called the mind gem. With the Tesseract stolen Nick Fury initiates the avengers and brings in Iron Man and Captain America, Hulk joins after a bit of persuasion and finally Thor who kinda just joins as the protector of earth. The team must fight an unknown enemy to close the portal and stop the god of Mischief.
Obviously it's not that simple, the film likes to bring up bitchy little arguments among the Avengers which is great because its a fan favourite in comics especially "Civil War" which shows major conflict between Captain America and Iron Man just like in the Avengers and they also touch up on the relationship between Thor and Hulk, its a battle of the gods and I'm really glad we saw a little brawl between them, it wasn't the best but its better than them all becoming BFF's just like that, it needed that tension between the characters.
Like most of the Marvel films Avengers brings us a lot of humour which is great to see but still to this day Tony Stark is the funniest!

What makes this film so special is that it brings the most famous heroes together and that hasn't been done before, but what also for me makes it special is that it wasn't rushed at all, Avengers has been in production since the first Iron man film in 2007.
The things I was worried about were:
1) will each character get enough screen time
2) will Thor coming back make sense especially considering the Bifrost was destroyed

Honestly I think they all got enough screen time however I wanted more Thor, but people who love Hulk wanted more Hulk so I think its more of an opinion thing than the directors favouritism; he didn't look at Captain America and go "your a fag, your going to have less screen time" Joss knew that people have a favourite hero and it was his job to show them off separately and I think he did a brilliant job, although I think Hulk and Loki need to have a proper fight.
The big difference between Marvel and DC is that Marvel is very humorous which makes the film better and creates a better mood that suits the story, lets face it comedy and batman do not belong together but I think DC focuses on the story and the darker side of being a hero especially in The dark Knight and the Man of steel.
This film was just so good! the effects were spectacular especially when it came to the Hulk, and I love that Mark did the motion capture not some other stunt man unlike the previous Hulk films. It was just such a large film, a huge alien invasion and Loki verses the avengers; they showed brilliant actions scenes and managed to squeeze in scenes that showed the tension between the members which was really important because it runs through the comics quite a lot.
So what's my favourite scene??
1) Thor vs Iron man- so this was amazing, it was a great fight however I don't think it showed Thor's true strength obviously I don't want him to kill Tony but when he zaps him with some lightning it hardly does anything; so I was a tiny bit disappointed because in a lot of comics Thor beats Iron man quite a lot and I just want the true power of Mjolnir to be shown.
2) Thor vs Hulk- as you can tell Thor is my favourite character and having those 2 fighting is just fantastic but I was slightly annoyed it didn't last longer, they need a proper long fight. But what eased my annoyance was there team work in the end and the scene where Hulk punches Thor; it was Brilliant.
3) Huge battle- The battle was epic, end of! you had Thor create a giant lightning storm that destroyed 3 of those snake machines, Iron man flying around and working with captain America and finally Scarlett Johansson being awesome!
I think Joss did a brilliant job, I mean there was a lot of pressure and one thing you never want to do is annoy a marvel fanatic and I think he knew what was a stake and he approached the film brilliantly, there were references to previous films and he introduced something a single hero couldn't do, a giant battle that was shared between all of them. I think concerning the sequel we wont see that instead we will see 1 vs 6 which I think will be great if they do it right but I don't think it will be AS epic, for the first film they really needed to make something amazing and they did but can they top it and if so... should they?

But I will be honest the best part was with Loki and Hulk, it was so unexpected and just really funny! I absolutely love this film I give it 9/10 I think it did something that DC wont be able to do as well because Marvel spent years planning so unless something terrible happened it was going to work.
I cannot wait for the sequel which will introduce a more superior villain, Loki was kinda but he had an army and hardly fought the avengers whereas Ultron will damage them there is no doubt about it and I think he will fight all of them and possibly kill one... Maybe, thats right Hawkeye I'm looking at you!

thanks for reading!
until next time :)
