Today i thought i would do something a tad different. I wanted to talk about the type of music I listen to which fits in with this blog i think and specifically composers such as Zimmer and Jablonsky (heather! Jablonsky does the theme for sims)
any way
I believe its good to be different and even better to have unique likes and dislikes which make us who we are and i think mine which separates me from my friends and a lot of other people, i'm not saying EVERYONE because some people may love the things i do, i think mine is the music i listen to.
I can't really talk about music with my friends because usually i have no idea what they are on about, I don't keep up with this generation because I don't like it, some of it is good like Bastille, Mumford and Sons, Fun and a few more but thats it.
I think where i was brought up with old music i have grown to like it, so thats why if you ask me my favourite songs I will probably say Elvis, Neil Diamond, Bee Gee's and probably musical songs because thats what my mum played all the time; I remember i use to complain when the Bee Gee's came on but now im searching for them.
Then there's the other side of me that prefers musical Scores that you find in films and I listen to it most days; when i say scores i mean the music within a film that has been composed like the pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. I absolutely love that type of music because:
1) there aren't any lyrics
2) it's relaxing
3) they are all different
I enjoy the aspect of not having lyrics because then i don't have to pay attention to the lyrics and understand what they mean, that may be considered weird but its what i enjoy and i'm not saying i listen to non-lyrical music all the time I just prefer little doses. This type of music is also relaxing depending on what composer your listening to and what type of scene but what it allows me to do is re-create the scene in my head over and over which is why i think im very good at remembering scenes because i remember the soundtrack and for me its a lot of fun, it's like re-watching a film for free but in your head. what i do a lot of the time is listen to that music whilst working because some of it is inspiring like the Man of Steel soundtrack and it gets rid of distractions because whilst im engaged in my work time seems to move quickly because im preoccupied in my own little world.
And the final point is that all the music is different but some follow a pattern like in the Dark knight soundtrack you will hear the almost iconic piece of music in most of the tracks. what i hate most about music now is that a lot of it is always the same, he broke up with me, she broke up with me, something about an Umbrella? i guess you could say i'm not a fan of most love songs but what i don't do is judge others for their music taste because i know that my taste is completely messed up, you at home may be listening to.... Eminem whilst i cannot connect with the song or understand it i'm sat at home raving to the soundtrack from Gladiator for example.
I think for me instead of singing along to songs, movie soundtracks allow me to escape from reality and i'm just stuck in my own little world which is nice.
So today was just a little intake of the kinda music I listen to, usually i wouldn't talk about it but i had a change of heart and now i thought i would just list all my favourite songs and composers because i've always had trouble figuring it out, so i may do it under albums instead.
Steve Jablonsky- Transformers 1/2/3
Hans Zimmer- Batman trilogy
Hans Zimmer- Man of Steel
Hans Zimmer- Rush
Hans Zimmer- Da vinci Code
Patrick Doyle- Thor

Linkin Park
Now onto a little discussion about my favourite composer Mr Hans Zimmer, I think what makes him brilliant is that he has made music for some brilliant films and the one of the most well known games on Xbox, Modern Warfare 2 and i think thats what made him more well known apart from his amazing music that to me really captures the emotion of the scene and I guess the action especially if you listen to "Arcade" in Man of Steel.
A lot of his work is very soothing and beautiful which is able to capture the mood perfectly and effect the audience. Apart from a good film i think the music is very important because it impacts the scene and makes it better, any death scene add sad music and immediately it becomes more dramatic and sadder especially if its a character the audience have connected with.
so yeah i guess today was more of an insight to me personally than movies but I thought the Genre i enjoyed fitted in nicely with this blog, If you read it all then thank you I was a bit nervous because i haven't really been comfortable with talking about it.
Thank you
Until Next time
I think my next review or discussion may be Taken or the Batman trilogy
