Ok, world war Z; well i am happy to say that it was pretty good apart from the fact i was already creeped out within the first 15 minutes. I'll be honest Zombies creep me out, don't ask me why they just do!
the film opens with Brad Pitt and his family all jolly and eating pancakes (brad claims they are the best pancakes but you never see them) then the family are seen in traffic and thats when the zombies attack; the bit that creeped me out was the first zombie, it smashes through this car window using her head then bites the man, the man then has this weird exorcist type fit and becomes a zombie (that creeped me out) you can hear their bones snap ect.
The general plot which separates it from other zombie films is that they don't have a cure but they are trying to figure out how to kinda over come it and take the advantage, it is very interesting and there are some really cool scenes like the Israel scene, where this girl picks up a mic and sings then suddenly this massive hoard of zombies pile over the wall that was pre-built because they knew (bitches didn't let us know) and the hoard literally cause chaos, its a brilliant scene and a lot of fun.
errmm what else, i'll be honest i'm not the biggest zombie fan because they do freak me out, and this is the first zombie film i've seen in cinema, at home i can watch it and turn it off if i get scared haha but in the cinema you can't, i mean you probably could but you'd have to dish out money.
anyhow! I was really surprised that Brad Pitt joined the film because I just didn't think it was his type of film, i was wrong again. He is great in it as Gerry (thanks Luke) and he just looks like a zombie killer, he has the cool tash, the long locks and the mind that can turn random crap into a weapon. He uses magazines as arm guards, honestly i would never have thought of that... i would have been cowering in the corner with a spoon and a cheese grater.
the idea of the film is great and i think I would have enjoyed it more if I was less afraid but you can't really help that can you.
overall it is a good film, the CGI is good especially for the mass hoard of zombies which looked really difficult to animate but i guess the guys or gals are good at their job, what I like about this film is that they focus on the idea that all the population have nearly been infected unlike in others as far as i am aware they focus on getting the cure but unfortunately their is no cure, only a camouflage which I think is very clever but rumors have surfaced that there will be sequels so I'm not really sure what is going to happen, maybe it will be 2 films of the army killing zombies... that would be pretty awesome :)
2 cons I have about this film is that the worlds final hope is a complete idiot and product placement isn't their specialty although it was really funny.
After Gerry initiates his camouflage and walks past zombies like they are ordinary people, he then decides he has enough time to have a can of pepsi, i was really expecting him to turn to the camera and say "refreshing" and then smile whilst his teeth sparkle (that didn't happen)
other than that it was enjoyable, I wont watch it at night though and to warn you there are some jumpy bits in it but to be honest they are quite cliche, i expected them but yet i still jumped.
thats enough of me blabbering, i would give the film 7/10 it had its pro's and con's like every other film but I'm not the greatest zombie lover so you apocalyptic fanatics out there will love it :)
until next time :)
