Now you see me...
I really enjoy films about magic and illusions such as the Illusionist and The prestige because what both of them do is leave all unanswered questions until the end which may be frustrating because you want to know how he vanished or turned that ace into a jack now but then again it leaves you wondering, bad example but kinda like Sherlock, we all want to know how he survived but we gotta wait.
anyhow, now you see me is based on 4 street magicians that form a cult to carry out 3 amazing tricks to join something called the eye whilst being hunted by the feds, Mark Ruffalo is among those and he seeks help from Morgan Freeman; when in doubt seek Freeman.
The whole film is based on them carrying out the tricks whilst Mark tries to get in front but they always seem 2 steps ahead, I will warn you like most magic films... all is not what it seems!
when I watched the trailer I thought wow this looks awesome, there were some awesome clips shown supported by an up beat soundtrack, it was great however the film just didn't do that for me, I mean some of the tricks were cool and then some were like "how the hell?" with no explanation, they explained a few but some were left alone and that annoyed me abit because I wanted to know how that girl got into that bubble, if you watch the trailer you may know what bit I'm on about or if you've seen the film I think we're on the same page.
I'll be honest I did enjoy it, there was a cool car chase which I didn't really expect in a film based on magicians but it was cool and a great example of how a trick is done but again the film just didn't stand out for me, maybe i should re-watch it just in case but in my opinion it's not one of those film's where you pick it out instantly however it all depends on if you enjoyed it or not and that's great if you did.
I think I expected too much because the cast is fantastic and in all fairness they all do a great job, you have Michael Cain, Freeman, that guy from social network and the hulk its just awesome and I think that lead me to believe it was going to be something magical (no pun intended) but it wasn't, I still enjoyed it but not as much which is a shame really because I was looking forward to it.
all in all I give it a 6/10
I thought some of the tricks were cool, the cast was bloody brilliant along with their acting but a few of the tricks were left alone and darn right stupid however there are a lot of twists and tricks along the way which kept me engaged, I do recommend it but it's not one of those films that I remember easily.
hope you enjoyed reading and remember...
The closer you think you are, the less you will actually see.
until next time
