when i first played Arkham Asylum i was amazed but i felt it was missing something; a playground. A huge map where i could fly around in an open space.
and then came the cinematic trailer for Arkham city which was brilliant and then the first game play footage which revealed a HUGE map!! (YES!!!)
I obviously ran to Game when it came out.
so how was the game?
well the game was fantastic!! there is a lot of things to do in the game such as find riddler trophies or mini campaigns which involved individual villains such as Bane. I'll be honest, the campaign was not my favourite aspect of the game; that went to the challenges, the challenges were addicting and really tested your skills to control the dark knight in a brutal environment; but the best challenge was a DLC called the "Jokers carnival" the aim was to build and bank points by fighting enemies but the points were based on levels and each level the enemies became harder. i actually got a 700 combo and am 80th in the world which is pretty impressive i think. Anyway back to the game.
so the game is based on the villain Hugo Strange who plans to carry out "protocol 10" which involves wiping out the inmates in Arkham City but like i said that is not the only thing going on, you have the Joker to deal with who is "recovering" from the Venom formula, the riddler, the penguin and many more villains but my favourite was the Joker as it was both shocking and fun (plus who doesn't love Mark Hamill)
The game itself is fantastic; it has brilliant graphics and awesome combat moves which look fantastic when you are in a combo. The only criticism i can think of is that some of the challenges are a pain in the ass!
i give it 9/10, and cannot wait until the new prequel which i will do a review on once it has come out.
i would have given the game a longer review but there is soo much to talk about so i tried to keep it to the things i enjoyed most.
