Frozen

Today I decided to watch Frozen and one thing I learnt is that no matter how old you are, boy or girl, you never grow out of Disney films, I grew up with it, I went to Disney land and I enjoyed quite a few of them, Hercules and Tarzan were my favourites so its only fair to keep the tradition. Honestly I didn't expect much, I thought it would be cheesy with some okay-ish songs similar to Tangled which again I enjoyed because a few of the songs were nice and the animation was brilliant and from then they have improved their animation abilities at first I thought it was great especially the older films considering their time but when Tangled was released they stepped their game up a lot and created some brilliant moments ranging from simple yet powerful hair manipulation to water particles and strangely its things like that, that impress me the most, I love seeing what they create and what they do with fantastic character modelling.

So I think Frozen must be the 52nd Disney animation and I'm pretty sure it has become the highest grossing Disney film, I'm not quite sure on that one but it did receive a golden globe, well deserved in my opinion!
Frozen tells us the story of 2 sisters one of which possess the powers of ice and snow, her name is Elsa the other is Anna who is abandoned by her sister because of her guilt and worry of hurting her with her secret powers. When her secret is reveal Elsa runs away but accidentally sets off a giant storm that surrounds and freezes her home, Anna races to find Elsa to hopefully end the storm but obviously its not that simple.

I'm hoping thats easy to follow, I didn't struggle with it but there is a twist which may not be obvious at first but tiny tiny hints are thrown at you but its a great surprise which stirs things up a bit and creates another dilemma for the characters. The characters are fantastic in this, their surprisingly funny and great singers we have Elsa and Anna, Olaf who is the fun snow man who wants to spend a day in the sun, there is also Hans a love interest for Anna and finally Sven and Kristoff... Sven is a reindeer and Kristoff is a slightly insane character who is adopted by Trolls- who knew?
They all get a chance to sing which is great but the highlight of the film is Idina Menzel who voiced Elsa, she's a Broadway actress and has an amazing voice in this film, they gave her quite strong songs which she performs brilliantly with emotion and compassion towards the character, the best song out of the whole film is most probably "Let it go" she finally comes to terms with her powers and is free and I believe its a song that possibly people can relate to maybe but I like it because its a nice song, its soothing and it has meaningful lyrics that were sung passionately and in my opinion thats what made the song special. The rest of them are good its just that one stands out against the rest because its one of the more sadder songs in the film but saying that Kristen Bell has a duet with Idina which is equally as great despite some of the cheesy lines building up to the song but I didn't care the song was great however it was a very short song so unfortunately it was over quite quickly, if you are interested in some of the songs I recommend:
Let it Go
For the first time in forever (Reprise)
the songs were brilliantly written by Robert and Kristen Lopez whilst the score was composed by Christophe Beck who created a tranquil and soothing score for the film.

The songs are great but I believe the animation is the true highlight of this film, the character design and movements are brilliantly fluent and smooth with small yet significant details that make them more real like eye movements, bouncing hair and clothing movements which may seem picky but it does make the animation a lot more real and appealing. Snow was the biggest and best element they animated in this film and it looked great, you can tell they worked very hard on creating the falling snow that behaved in such an incredibly real way ranging from foot prints to amazingly detailed particles that differed in appearance and shards of ice of all sizes and lengths. with all these factors they created a beautiful background that was brought to life and honestly it was flawless, I would love to know how they created a lot of it.

With a compelling story that offers an emotional roller-coaster of 2 sisters and there struggles along with some humorous scenes thanks to Olaf who was the comic relief and obviously what would a Disney film be without romance! all these elements create a surprisingly brilliant film that I prejudged, its great for the whole family and I'd give it an 8. I'm not very familiar with most of the cast honestly so it was great to be presented with some new voices that sounded great also... Jack Whitehall's in it and I still can't figure out what troll he is -_-

Anyway I hope you enjoyed, this was the inner Disney fan talking, do you have a favourite? if so I'd like to know what it is as long as its not any of the Disney sequels- there's just no point.
thanks for reading :)
Until Next time
