X-men days of Future past

Its the last day of May so it seemed right to do a final post of the month! and I went to see X-men Days of Future Past on Wednesday so lets get to it!

Basically... in the future the Mutants are virtually wiped out by forever adapting machines called Sentinels. The last remaining X-men join together to attempt to eliminate this threat by journeying back into the past where it all started. Thanks to Kitty they successfully send Logan back to the 1970's to stop the development of the Sentinel project. It turns out that Mystique is responsible for the whole disaster as she kills the main man running the show which causes the government to proceed and take action against the Mutant meanwhile apprehending Mystiques abilities which explains the Sentinels ability to adapt or change. Logan must convince a depressed Xavier to help him stop Mystique from becoming a killer and causing the ultimate doom of both mutant and Human life.

I knew this film would be great, I had no worries except the story itself being confusing because its a time travel film and sometimes things can become hard to follow but this was so simple to follow however what this film did do very well was set the foundation for pondering questions and its hard to tell whether they did that intentionally or whether they simple thought screw it, lets hope they forgot what happened in the others. I am hoping my questions will be answered either in the next one or some genius manages to get the answers from Bryan Singer. I found that aspect both annoying yet very interesting because I didn't find out everything I wanted which sucks but it does leave it open for our own interpretation where we can assume or speculate and thats fun to do.
here are just a few questions that riddled around my head, I won't involve all because some may be spoilers.
1) How did Xavier come back- at the end of Wolverine he just shows up, in X-men Last Stand the phoenix disintegrates him into little specks of dust that super glue wont be able to fix but the post credit reveals his "brother" who is ill and suddenly Xavier has taken his conscience. But they never really clarify anything...
2) Wolverines adamantium- In Wolverine, Logan has his adamantium claws chopped off by the Silver Samurai and only his bone claws grow back but in the future his adamantium claws are fully repaired, again not explaining how my money is on Magneto.

The story was awesome, it was very grounded and just overall very intriguing. I really enjoyed the way we got a look at both the past and the present but what they did well was not continuously switch between the two time periods as they primarily focused on the past. The future was very cool to watch especially when the Sentinels arrived and kicked ass, I mean the mutants fighting got destroyed and that really emphasised the power of the Sentinels. It was amazing to see the original x-men like Bobby, Kitty, Storm and Colossus that created a really exciting scene that was full of action and tragedy unfortunately but what we saw of the Future was visually impressive and awesome because we got to see some new Mutants which is always interesting.

The best of the film definitely came from scenes within the past because we got 2 different versions of Charles and Erik which was very interesting to see and we do get to see a physically disturbed Xavier who has lost his way and sometimes its sad to watch because James McAvoy does it very well but this new connection between the enemies creates a lot of interesting developments plus its really fun to see how the future Magneto and Professor X behaved in the 70's and what is clear is that Magneto is still fighting this cause to help his fellow mutants and he does really try once he is aware that the future means the end of the Mutant race.
my favourite scenes from the film definitely derive from the past and I will share them with you whilst avoiding spoilers.
1) The introduction to Quicksilver is so much fun when he breaks into the Pentagon, its a brilliant scene that is fun, entertaining and just awesome. Lets just say it involves him running around really quickly and altering a few things to help his new friends
2) Charles is broken but determined to come back and a futile attempt at using Cerebro leads to a heart to heart with Wolverine who lets Charles look inside him mind experiencing his pain but leading to a conversation with his future self and its just a really lovely scene that motivates Charles to fight back.

The film is just absolutely brilliant! an easy 9/10 its fun, its interesting, it has some awesome action sequences. More importantly it teases the next film and it gave us what we wanted, we wanted to see the old cast back and we got it, you'll understand more about that towards the end and it was fantastic to see. Because I'm strange I was thrilled to hear the original X-men theme. The cast were absolutely brilliant! the chemistry and hate between Charles and Erik is portrayed fantastically by Fassbender and McAvoy as well as that the feeling of regret is conveyed by Mckellen and Stewart in their time of need and its lovely to see them reconcile. Wolverine was great as always but I was thoroughly impressed by Peter Dinklage's role, he was absolutely brilliant in it.

Go and see this film!!
I will warn however that once I got out I was a tad annoyed because it made a few of the X-men films seem irrelevant which in many respects was a good thing, I was just a bit gutted. Also stay for the credits and prepare for X-men: Apocalypse
Thanks for reading!
Until next time :)
